in connecticut is so much greater than the pleasure that shooting at targets with a 30-clip would give to target shooters. really it's a no brainer to me. and the shooter in the aurora theater had a clip with 100 rounds of ammunition. that's why he was able to shoot up that whole theater in two or three minutes. and there were military personnel in there. if he had just been -- if he had had to stop, they could have tackled him. they could have taken him out. >> the reason he didn't have to stop, governor, is because he had those hundred-round clips. and let's not forget, governor, in newtown one of those kids had 11 bullets in him. we're talking about some unbelievable things here. >> unbelievable evil. you're absolutely right. one of the points the congresswoman made and we should remember this is in aurora although the majority of the victims were adults, there were two 6-year-old and 7-year-old and there was one 6-month-old baby. 6-month-old baby that got killed. so this isn't the first time we've lost our kids. >> when does it end? >> when does it stop? >> and when is the legislative respon

in connecticut. the national rifle association finally broke its silence on the newtown shooting. a statement released today by the organization said, in part, the nra is prepared to offer meaningful contributions to help make sure this never happens again. the language is similar to president obama's call for meaningful action, but contribution from the nra remains to be seen. but several republican politicians are already headed in the direction of change. michigan governor rick snyder saw republicans in his state legislature pass a bill to allow guns in schools and day care centers. the bill was passed one day before the tragedy in newtown, connecticut. today the republican governor vetoed the bill. according to the detroit news, snyder vetoed the bill because it wouldn't allow schools and other public locations to opt out of its provisions. in the past 24 hours, republican members of congress said that some gun restrictions are worth looking into. senator susan collins of maine, congressman charlie dent of pennsylvania and lindsey graham of south carolina, they are all pro-gun. they are a

is reporting a $100 million lawsuit that's been filed against the state of connecticut on behalf of a 6-year-old survivor of the newtown school shooting. according to the claim, the unidentified female has sustained emotional and psychological trauma and injury. the lawsuit also accuses the state of failing to take the appropriate steps to protect children from foreseeable harm. >>> this morning, we've learned the name of the man pushed to his death to from a subway platform in new york on thursday. witnesses say 46-year-old sunando psen was pushed by a woman police describe as heavyset in her 20s. she was caught on camera fleeing the scene. it's the second subway killing in new york just this month. >>> in ohio, a college honors student has been granted a restraining order against her parents of all people. a judge has ordered the parents of aubrey ireland to stay at least 500 feet away from their daughter until september of next year. 21-year-old ireland says her parents would track her cell phone and computer use and drive 600 miles to visit her at school unannounced. in an abc interview,

, and then you can see, we have four to six inch bes for much of new york state as well as into connecticut and new york. not necessarily new york city getting as hard-hit with this storm. several inches expected. what's fastcinating when talkin about a nor'easter system, as it develops off the coast, depending where the low pressure is centered, that will determine how much snow cities like boston and providence get. but the latest computer modelling are saying we could see six inches or more for the boston area. that's why a winter storm warning is now in place. so the snow will begin later on today and continue through the night, and it may be something you have to plow or shovel out by the time we get to tomorrow morning. we'll be watching this very closely. you can see that the winter weather advisory is a little less for the cape, because you have that ocean moisture and ocean temperatures a little bit milder and that influences whether you get snow or rain. again, this looks like a powerful storm. here's the computer model showing we could see over a foot of snow in parts of massachu

to all the people in newtown, connecticut. this was an horrific series of events. second of all, the major problem that i have as a geneticist is that it's impossible to gain much information with the sample size of one. so what you are looking at is one person's dna, and you're trying to say that it's different than other people. but you only have a sample size of one. >> would it be helpful, do you think, to look at the dna of other shooters of those from previous mass shootings? >> well, again, the problem is, we have probably less than five or even ten people that we're talking about. when studies -- accurate genetic studies are done on a whole population, we look for hundreds of different people, and you have to show a strong correlation with that. and the second problem would be what are we trying to look for? i mean, we're going -- the whole idea is you're going in with the notion of looking for something. and that is simply not the way science is done. science is done where you go in expecting things to be the same. we have a hypothesis. and then you try to disprove or p

, and eight in connecticut, many parents in the area are just at wit's end trying to make life normal for their kids as they live in shelters. that's what camp tlc is doing, together living with a challenge. they've just wrapped up their third week of camp sandy and they've had a lot of fun. it was carnival day. as parents are leaving with their children, they're allowed to stop by here, this distribution center and pick up nonperrishables and other necessities. earlier this morning, about 10:00 o'clock, a bus driver picked up about 30 kids and many of their parents as well from a shelter here in staten island and took them to gateway academy. kids from ages four to 16 share their stories, do sing alongs, arts and crafts, and burn off their energy. parents can either participate in camp activities or run errands, talk to insurance companies and find more permanent places for their kids to sleep at night. >> short-term, i think it's giving parents respite, letting parents know they can rebuild their lives and their kids are in good hands. i think long-term, it's teaching kids that ther

, connecticut. some towns are now on capitol hill today. they are painting a vivid picture of this massive damage done in nir communities. joining us live from the rotunda, hoboken mayor dawn zimmer. ufs you were testifying about how small businesses have struggled here. tell us about what's going on in hoboken, what do you need? >> part of my message is hoboken is very much open for business. we have fantastic restaurants and nightlife and shopping and washington street was not flooded. many of our businesses have been impacted by the closure of the path, 60%. some businesses are reporting as much as 60% down in business. my main concern is the 200 or so businesses off of washington street who are struggling to either stay open, operating in an alternate location or potentially over the next several months could be forced to close down. that's my focus right now. >> i understand there was $1 hundred million in damage in hoboken. what is the main source of revenue for helping people get back to work and get back to business? >> well, for businesses the only option for them from the federal

in connecticut. we talk so much about protecting our children and for some of these family they were already their children although they were still living in russia. is there anything that the u.s. government could do? what would be a response that might evoke a response from russia? >> well, right now the state department is asking the parent of these children to sit tight. they are working on negotiating these 46 cases, making sure at least those children who have already bonded with those parents already in the pipeline waiting to be taken back to the united states could be, if you grandfathered in, if you will, and then they are trying to work with the russians on lifting the entire ban. there is already an adoption agreement between the u.s. and russia that they've been negotiating for about two years. it was just signed in november. this ban that was signed by president putin doesn't repeal that treaty and the u.s. is encouraged by statements by russian lawmakers and other cabinet ministers that say that maybe this ban could be lifted because it's certainly as it has touched here in t
